Utah's Road to Statehood

Utah County Memorial Requesting Women's Suffrage 15 March 1895 memorial asking the president and members of the constitutional convention to take into account that women in 1895 were "deprived of the privileges of American citizenship... taxed and are amenable to the laws equal with men ... [and have] no voice or vote." They closed their memorial by saying they had "solemnly pledged to accomplish the result [and] respectfully request that you insert a clause in the Constitution of the State of Utah, conferring upon women the rights of suffrage." This document is signed by Electa Bullock, Sarah A. Boyer, and Hannah S. [Lapish], delegates (Utah State Archives and Records Service).
