About Us

Secure records storage at the Records Center is offered at no cost to state agencies, local governments, political subdivisions, and school districts. However, agencies are responsible for purchasing boxes for their records at $2.43 each and for arranging delivery of their boxes to the Records Center. For more information about purchasing boxes please visit our instructions page.

Records sent to the State Records Center in Clearfield, UT retain ownership by the agency, and approved retention schedules dictate the final disposition of the records—destroy, or transfer to the State Archives for permanent preservation.

Records sent to the State Archives in Salt Lake City, UT fall under the custody of the State Archives and are preserved permanently.
