Scope and Content

This series contains employment applications, correspondence, and agreements between the State Engineer and individuals seeking employment within the government agency tasked with regulating water, irrigation, and dams in the state of Utah. Pre-printed employment applications contain a variety of both personal and professional information on potential job candidates. Correspondences to the State Engineer typically take the form of either letters from applications accompanying their applications, or letters of reference from third-party individuals recommending candidates to the State Engineer. The records in this series are historically significant due to the fact that they help capture working conditions during both the Great Depression and beginning of World War II.
