Scope and Content

This series contains Governor Matheson's copies of minutes and agenda pertaining to meetings of the Board of Examiners, a committee on which the Governor served with the Lt. Governor and the Attorney General. Title 63 of the Utah Code of 2000 states that the Board of Examiners has the "power to examine all claims against the state for the payment of which funds appropriated by the Legislature or derived from any other source are not available." The majority of the requests made to the Board of Examiners during Matheson's administrations were out-of-state travel requests and salary increase proposals. This series also includes correspondence relative to certain requests, proposals, or claims. The records in this series are only from 1977 and 1978; it is not known whether Matheson received similar records from 1979 to 1985.

Arrangement

Chronological by date.

Correspondence that has been attached behind the agenda and/or minutes of the meetings has been kept in the order in which it was found. Undated materials have been kept in the order in which they were found.
