Series 406
Secretary of State Corporation license registers
Dates: 1907-1920.
These records are housed in the Utah State Archives' permanent storage room.
Scope and Content
In 1907, the Legislature implemented an annual license tax for corporations (Laws of Utah, series 83155: ch. 107, 1907). The license fee was payable on or before the 15th of November each year at the Office of the Secretary of State. The Secretary of State in turn deposited the monies with the State Treasurer and issued the corporation a certificate of compliance. The fee schedule was based on the amount of authorized capital stock.
These registers log the payment of those annual fees along with the filing case and docket number, corporation name, place incorporated, and capital stock amount.
