Scope and Content
This series contains a single volume used to record information about county roads. It documents road districts established under provisions of a territorial statute directing that each county be divided "into suitable and convenient number of road districts, and appoint supervisor's therefor biennially, or whenever vacancies occur" (Utah Comp._L._2072:1 (1888)). The primary information in the book is found in a list of boundary descriptions for each of the road precincts as per "order of the county court made January 6, 1890." These include the Mill, Erda or Batesville, Lake View, Tooele, Stockton, Ophir, St. Johns, Clover, Vernon, Deep Creek, Quincy, and Grantsville precincts. The book includes a section for each precinct with the name of the precinct road supervisor, although few of these sections contain any further information. It is clear that this book was used for only a short time and it contains a handful of entries and one map documenting a change in a county road. The largest section in the book was reserved for surveyor's field notes, but that section was never used.
