Scope and Content
This series contains a ledger book documenting stray animals taken up by the city. The ledger contains such information as the date and location the animal was taken up and by whom; a brief description of the animal as well as any marks or brands; the amount of damage or appraisal determined by the city; a record of whether or not the animal was sold and if so to whom, when, and for how much; a record of whether the animal was claimed, proven, or taken away and if so by whom and when; the total expense taken on by the city for its care, keeping, and/or selling; and any other comments noted by the city marshal or city recorder. The bulk of the animals tracked in this record are horses and cows, with the occasional sheep.

Custody History
Spring City transferred the record in this series to the State Archives in May 2019.
