Series 29761Department of Administrative Services (Utah). Division of Archives and Records Service Research Room quilt
Dates: ca. 1985
These records are housed in the Utah State Archives' permanent storage room.
Scope and Content
This series contains a quilt commissioned by the State Archives to hang as a decorative piece in the Archives Research Room. When the Archives set up a research room in the Archives building northwest of the State Capitol, Jeffery Johnson commissioned a quilt from quiltmaker Adeline Leonard Wakefield Starr to provide decoration in the room. Johnson purchased fabric to complement the colors in the room and Mrs. Starr donated her work in making the quilt by hand. The quilt is done in a "Lone Star" or "Radiant Star" pattern. It hung on the wall behind the reference desk until the Archives moved out of the building in 2004. It was then placed in the Archives collection as part of the history of the agency.
