Series 29732District Court (First District : Rich County) Civil registers of actions
Dates: 1896-1978
These records are housed in the Utah State Archives' permanent storage room.
Scope and Content
This series contains register books used to document actions in civil cases heard by the court. Civil cases are those in which disputes between parties involving legal rights and wrongs are judged and determined. As records or actions are filed for each case, the court clerk enters them into a register. Though the reasons are unclear, a small number of cases related to mental competency and adoption, normally handled as probate matters, were recorded in this series. The registers of action in this series contain such information as the names of plaintiffs and defendants, names of attorneys, petitions, complaints, summons, court orders, findings, and judgments as well as the date each action was recorded.
Arrangement
Numerical by case number and generally chronological by filing date.
