These records are housed in the Utah State Archives' permanent storage room.
Scope and Content
This series contains various records created in the 11th Election District during the 1939 Salt Lake City primary and general municipal elections. The records were created by the judges for District 11, located in a 3 block area northwest of Liberty Park, and submitted to the City Recorder. The records provide documentation that proper procedures were followed, along with the voting results from the district. The series includes such records such as a poll book containing the names of those who voted in the district, tally sheets used to total up the votes for each candidate, and vote totals signed by the election judges. In addition the records include an election district map published in 1937.
Documents in the series contain names of the candidates running for Mayor and City Commission. Among those running in this election were David Abbot "Ab" Jenkins for Mayor and Reva Beck Bosone for Commissioner. Jenkins became Mayor as a result of this election and Bosone lost the race to be Commissioner.
