Scope and Content

This series contains a bound volume used to record actions in criminal and civil cases heard by the Justice of the Peace. Case information was recorded by filling in pre-printed forms in the book. The information was recorded by the Justice of the Peace at the time of each case for the purpose of documenting civil and criminal cases in the precinct. The record for each case includes such information as the names of those involved in the case, complaint filed, information regarding the hearing, the justice's decision, and court expenses, judgments , and fines. The Justices who used this book were P. J. Olsen, D. W. Holdaway, Lewis C. Singleton, J. M. Millard, U. E. Curtis, and A. Ballinger.

Note that while this book contains criminal cases from April 1898 to December 1905, it only covers civil cases from March 1905 to December 1905.

Gaps in Series

The State Archives holds Volume 4 in this series, which suggests that there were three volumes that preceded it. There is also mention in the book of a Volume 5 and possibly a volume 6. The location of these additional volumes is unknown.
