Scope and Content
This series contains a single school register book. The register book appears to have been used to record student information in 1900 and later repurposed for keeping administrative records. It contains various information for the 1901-1902 school year, including number of books used by each teacher, requests to the school board for books, number of students in each grade, inventory of books in each classroom, Salt Lake City High School outline of course of study, the daily schedule for each grade, and notes to principal Samuel Doxey.
The book also contains statistics for the school district for the months of September, October, November, December, January and April of the 1901-1902 school year. These statistics include total enrollment, number of teachers, average number of pupil to teacher, cases of tardiness, percent of attendance, percent of punctuality, cases of corporal punishment, cases of truancy, visits by patrons, visits to patrons and colored pupils.
This record also includes certificates from the board of health permitting students with infectious disease to return to school, as well as doctor's notes permitting students to return to school.
