Scope and Content
This series contains ordinances, which are the legislative action of the town council to regulate, require, prohibit, govern, control, or supervise any activity, business, conduct, or condition authorized by UCA 10-3-701 to 715 (1997). An ordinance typically includes a number, a title, preamble, an ordaining clause, the body or subject of ordinance, when applicable, penalty of violation, effective date, signature of mayor or acting mayor, and municipal seal.
The ordinances in this series were numbered using several numbering systems over time. From 1945 into the 1980s were simply assigned numbers sequentially. Later ordinances were given a number based on the year and a sequential number or a number corresponding with the date the ordinance was adopted. Many of the ordinances in the series are numbered, signed, and dated, but in some cases some or all of that information is missing, making it unclear when or if the ordinance was formally adopted.
In addition to the ordinances, the series contains some related materials, including draft ordinances, meeting announcements, and correspondence.

Lynndyl Town transferred records in this series dating from 1945-2007 to the State Archives in November 2016.

Gaps in Series
This series includes ordinances dating back to 1945 when Lynndyl was incorporated, but there are clearly ordinances and resolutions missing, as evidenced by missing numbers in the sequence and numerous years for which there are no ordinances or resolutions. This is particularly true for the time period of the 1950's through the 1970's.
