Series 28350
Uintah County Cemeteries Department (Utah) Rock Point and Maeser Cemeteries inventories
Dates: ca. 1953
These records are housed in the Utah State Archives' permanent storage room.
Scope and Content
This series contains inventories of graves in the two cemeteries. The inventories were apparently undertaken about 1953 and recorded on pre-printed forms apparently distributed by the Genealogical Society of Utah. The Rock Point inventory includes information about burials as early as 1878 and the Maeser Cemetery inventory lists burials as early as 1891. The source of the information in the inventories is not apparent. It could have come from older cemetery records or from a combination of headstone surveys and some research. The inventory lists row numbers, lot numbers, and the name of the deceased. In many cases the record also includes date and place of birth, date of death, names of parents and/or spouse, and miscellaneous notes.
Arrangement
Numerical by row and lot number.
Custody History
This series was presumably created by individuals associated with the cemeteries in an effort to document burials. At some point, perhaps after management of the cemeteries in Uintah County was consolidated under the county government, these records came into the possession of the Uintah County Regional History Center.

Preferred Citation
Cite the Utah State Archives and Records Service, the creating agency name, the series title, and the series number.
Gaps in Series
The inventory of the Maeser Cemetery in this series includes only two pages, one of which is labeled as page 7. There are less than 45 burials listed in the inventory out of hundreds of burials in that time period. These facts indicated that much of this inventory is missing.
Processing Note
The microfilm for this series was archivally processed by Alan Barnett in September 2013.
