Series 28344
Holden (Utah) Cemetery records
Dates: 1859-
These records are housed in the Utah State Archives' permanent storage room.
Scope and Content
This series contains a variety of records used to document the identity and location of burials in the cemetery. The oldest book lists all the lots in the cemetery by block, lot, and grave numbers. Owners' names are given and individuals buried in the lot are listed by grave number along with birth and death dates. The book appears to have been put in use in the 1930's or 40's and was used until 1964.
The second book is divided into two sections. The first section is an alphabetical name index that lists names of deceased individuals and the grave location for each. The second portion of the book contains diagrams of each lot in the cemetery. The diagrams list the owner of the lot and the names of those interred in each space, along with birth and death dates. There are also a number of miscellaneous notes about payment for perpetual care and other matters related to the lots. According to a note in the second book, it was created in 1965, apparently using information from the first book. The second book was used until 2006.
The third book contains a listings of individuals buried in the cemetery. The record lists the name of the deceased, birth and death dates, and location of burial. The earlier burials in the book are listed by block number and later burials by date.
