Dates: 1870-2008.
These records are housed in the Utah State Archives' permanent storage room.
Historical Note
An agency history is available.
Scope and Content
This series contains 3" x 5" cards used to record burials in the cemetery. The cards are labeled as "Application for Excavation Permit", but it appears that they did not typically function as such. The series was likely started in the late twentieth century and includes cards for burials as early as 1870. The cards function as a name index to burials. The pre-printed cards include space to record the name of the deceased, birth date and place, death date and place, parents' names, and spouse's name, along with a diagram showing the location of the burial within the lot. The cards also include a place for noting the date, name of the permit applicant, and the relation of the applicant to the deceased, but these spaces are only occasionally filled in. The standard format of the cards does not specifically call for the location of the lot, but that information is sometimes included along with notes about the transfer of ownership.
Arrangement
Alphabetical by name of deceased.
