Scope and Content
Court order books are a daily record of various orders issued by the civil, probate, and criminal divisions of the Seventh District Court in San Juan County. In the most basic sense, court orders are directions issued by a court or a judge requiring a party to do or not do something. The record books in this series include the name of the order, as well as the corresponding case number from either the civil, criminal, or probate division. The record books also include the names of the parties involved in each case, the date a court order is issued, the name of the judge issuing the order, and the name of the court clerk tasked with officially recording orders in these record books.

Researchers should be aware that these books include orders issued in conjunction with adoption and guardianship proceedings heard by the probate division, and as such the access restrictions that apply to adoption case files also apply to these record books.
