Scope and Content
This series contains declarations of intention filed with the court by individuals intending to apply for United States citizenship. To become a citizen of the United States, an individual normally filed a "declaration of intention to become a citizen" at least two years prior to applying for citizenship. These declarations were on standardized forms that include such information as the name of the declarant, current place of residence, occupation, age, sex, color, complexion, eye color, hair color, height, weight, race, nationality, place and date of birth, information about any spouse and children, date and place of entry into the United States, signature of the declarant, and certification of the court clerk.
A court order filed at the beginning of the series decrees that the District Court for Uintah County will relinquish jurisdiction in naturalization matters and in the future, such matters will be handled by the District Court for Utah County. This order, dated 26 February 1942, marks the end of the creation of this record series.
