Scope and Content

This series contains case files created by the court for settling the matters of estates of deceased persons, guardianships, and adoptions. Most of the case files pertain to the settling of estates. These files typically include letters of administration, petitions, notices of hearing, inheritance tax returns, wills, letters of acknowledgment, and other documents settling any disputes over an estate. The series also contains case files pertaining to guardianships which generally include petitions for guardianship, orders of appointing guardianship, proof of mailings and postings, and orders approving settlement. Also included in the series are some case files for adoptions which may contain petitions for adoption, agreements of adoption, and adoption decrees.
