Scope and Content

These are minutes of the Planning Commission in the Town of Alta. The function of the planning commission is to author and approve the General Plan for the Town of Alta with the Town Council. The Town of Alta General Plan was adopted by the Town Council on Thursday November 10, 2005.

The Town of Alta was incorporated on August 20, 1970. Planning Commission members are appointed by the town council to promote and coordinate comprehensive long-range planning, growth-management, and environmental protection, and make recommendations to the town council. The seven-member commission considers land use planning matters including proposals to adopt or amend a general plan or zoning ordinance and approve use permits and variances. Recurring issues and other topics of discussion before the Alta Planning Commission include the general plan, ordinances, zoning, subdivisions, planned unit development (PUD), conditional use permits, and the base facilities zone. Minutes of both regularly scheduled meetings and executive sessions are included in this series. Since November 2007, meeting minutes have been posted on the town web site (http://www.townofalta.com/gov_planning_agendas.shtml).
