Scope and Content

These are clippings relating to Governor Rampton and his activities. The clippings mainly come from a subscription to the Utah State Press Association Clipping Service. The clips come from newspapers around the state and served as reference files to determine public perception of the Governor.

Chronological by month.

Misfiles within packets are frequent, and the packets themselves were not always filmed in order.

Gaps in Series

Aside from occasional misfiles, the series lacks clippings from 1968.

Processing Note

Governor Rampton's administrative records were sent to the State Archives sometime after his final term. Series boundaries on the records were determined in 1998 by Arlene Schmuland who also wrote this series inventory at that time. Original arrangement was retained as correcting all the misfiles within clipping packets was determined to be too labor intensive. The clippings were scheduled to be destroyed following filming as they lack intrinsic value and because newsprint is inherently unstable. The series was microfilmed, with the inventory updated in 2002.
