Scope and Content

This series is a collection of administrative records produced by the Weber County Centennial Committee (which operated under the general supervision of the Centennial Commission), such as minutes, correspondence, and various financial records, as well as a scrapbook of newspaper clippings about local centennial events.

Research Note

Although county committees were appointed for every county (other than Salt Lake), and for the East Mill Creek and Magna-Garfield area of Salt Lake County, only the records of the Weber County Centennial Committee survive.

Custody History

After concluding its business, the Weber County Centennial Committee transferred its administrative records to the state Centennial Commission. The Centennial Commission subsequently deposited its accumulated records with the Utah Historical Society, which in 1949 was designated by Governor J. Bracken Lee as the official repository for the records of the commission. The newly independent Utah State Archives retained custody of the records following its removal from the Historical Society in 1969.

Processing Note

An unidentified photograph of a flat, barren landscape with a hill rising in the background, mounted on cardboard, found with these records has been transferred to the Utah Division of State History. Archival processing of these records was completed in August 1998 by W. Glen Fairclough, Jr. Microfilming of these records for reference use was completed in June 2004.
