Scope and Content
This series is made up of reports submitted to outline centennial celebrations, projects, and activities as well as to summarize the accomplishments of the individual divisions which made up the Centennial Commission. Progress reports and final reports were compiled by nearly all divisions and are the most frequently found documents in the series. Final division reports were attached to the annual report submitted to the governor in December 1947 and later incorporated into the "General Report" prepared as the definitive account of the Centennial Commission's efforts to commemorate the coming of the pioneers into the Salt Lake Valley. Some divisions wrote reports about special projects, including publicity, budget, city approaches, a painting exhibit, and a historical brochure.

Division correspondence and subject files from the Centennial Commission (1947), Series 19317, includes in the "Reports" folder a Publicity and Promotions Division progress report dated July 19, 1946, missing from this collection, as well as duplicates of progress reports for the Arts, Beautification, and Publicity and Promotion divisions.
Custody History
Records of the Centennial Commission originally were deposited with the Utah Historical Society, which in 1949 was designated by Governor J. Bracken Lee as the official repository for the records of the commission. The newly independent Utah State Archives retained custody of the records following its removal from the Historical Society in 1969.

Archival processing of these records was completed in November 1998 by W. Glen Fairclough, Jr. The reports subsequently were microfilmed in September 2002.
