Scope and Content
This series contains evaluations of school buildings in school districts throughout the state. The evaluations were conducted using standards and forms developed by T. C. Holy and W. E. Arnold of Ohio State University. Pre-printed score cards were used to assign numerical evaluations for a various aspects of school buildings, including general building construction, academic classrooms, physical education rooms, library, cafeteria, kindergarten, offices, water supply, toilets, fire protection systems and electrical systems. In addition, each evaluation includes an overall score and a brief description of the school, including construction date and a summary of strengths and weaknesses of the facility.
All the evaluations in the State Archives holdings were the product of two rounds of studies in 1951-52 and 1952-53. They were conducted by Dr. O. C. England under the direction of the Temporary School Building Survey Commission.
