Scope and Content
This series contains minutes of joint meetings of the State Board of Education and the State Board of Equalization. The State Legislature had authorized the two boards to act as a joint committee to hear petitions from county school boards and county commissions to raise school tax levies above the standard limits set by law (see Laws of Utah 1929, Ch. 51). The minutes typically include petitions for raising tax levies, supporting explanation of the need for a raised the levies, a record of votes taken by the joint committee, and notes of miscellaneous administrative business.
