Scope and Content

This series contains both the incoming and outgoing correspondence of Governor Henry H. Blood. These letters were the Governor's central method of communicating with the Utah citizenry and other principal officials. The correspondence pertains to his duties in office and document his stance on various issues and policies. Topics addressed throughout the correspondence are extensive, ranging from prohibition and speeches to drought relief and the 1939 World's Fair. These records provide a valuable perspective into the difficulties and challenges that faced 1930s Utah and the nation as a whole.

Much of the correspondence received by Governor Blood's office came from constituents in search of advice and assistance in managing the hardships of the Great Depression. The records also include correspondence with business leaders, legislators and government officials, numerous professional associations, committees, and those involved in the workings of government, excluding state agencies (for correspondence with state agencies see Series 14207).

Arrangement

Chronological by year, thereunder alphabetical.

Folders may be further broken down chronologically or topically. For example, the miscellaneous P's first, chronological by month; then specific P names alphabetically, thereunder chronological by month.
