Scope and Content

This series contains correspondence relating to the work of the State High School Inspector. The earliest records relate to the appointment of Mosiah Hall to the position in 1911. Most of the remaining records are Mr. Hall's correspondence. The series contains both incoming and outgoing correspondence, although all the letters in a given exchange are not necessarily included. The letters deal with a variety of topics, including training and certification of teachers, school curriculum and textbooks, teacher salaries, and filling teaching positions around the state. The series also includes some correspondence regarding the question of granting school credit for L.D.S seminary classes.

While the position of High School Inspector existed for over 20 years, the Archives holds correspondence for the Inspector for just four or five years. Thewhereabouts of other correspondence, especially that dating from after January 1916 is unknown.
