Fillmore (Utah) Ordinances
Dates: 1852-
These records are housed in the Utah State Archives' permanent storage room.
Scope and Content
This series contains the various ordinances passed by the City Council to regulate activities and conduct within the city. While earlier ordinances are typically more simple, an ordinance may include a title, preamble, ordaining clause, subject of ordinance, when applicable, penalty of violation, effective date, signature of the mayor, and municipal seal.
Some of the books in this series contain the official copy of ordinances as passed by the city council, but the series also includes compilations of codified Revised Ordinances from 1908, 1942, and 1972. Some of the ordinances in the series have an attached proof of publication with a newspaper clipping with the text of the ordinance. There are also a few miscellaneous documents that were filed in with the ordinances over time. These include such records as proof of publication documentation and a map showing the corporate limits of Fillmore City.
