Scope and Content
The water resources division of the State Planning Board collected the various reports contained in this series. The State Planning Board actively cooperated with federal, state, and local agencies for the development and conservation of water resources. Early in the development of state planning, these agencies began their studies by gathering data on a wide range of water resources subjects. Included are efficiency studies which measure water evaporation and supply forecasts; federal plans created by the National Resources Committee, the Federal Emergency Relief Administration, the Bureau of Reclamations, and other agencies; studies and data concerning the Great Salt Lake; ground water studies of the Salt Lake, Sanpete, and Woods Cross areas; precipitation studies; proposed projects including the Bingham - Tooele tunnel, the Lawrence Dam, the Provo River, the Vernon and Widtsoe additions, and power sites; reports on projects then under construction; reservoir studies, river basin surveys such as the Sevier, Great Salt Lake, Uintah, San Juan, and Fremont drainage areas; sewage control data; underwater regulations; Utah Lake studies; and Utah County water rights decrees. Many of these reports include maps of the areas under study.
