Scope and Content
The State Planning Board gathered data on agriculture and land use to gain a necessary understanding of such problems as water supply, drainage, markets, industrial development, transportation, population, taxation, and other related elements in the economic structure. They often worked cooperatively with federal, state, and local government agencies interested in the use of land resources. Included in this series are studies conducted by the Agricultural Adjustment Administration; analyses of agricultural resources and possible resettlement areas; land classification reports; farm tenancy reports; elevation studies; information on western state land boards; surveys of agricultural cooperation and the dairy industry; range land studies; hearings on interstate cooperation; and the Utah Conservation and Research Foundation incorporation proposal and conclusions.
