Scope and Content

This series contains assorted records created by the local justice court in Kanab. The Kanab Justice Court heard cases involving small claims and minor criminal infractions. The first records that appear on the microfilm reel are loose justice court documents. They include warrants of arrest, complaints, and receipts of payments made to the court. This series also includes a justice court docket book. This book is indexed and includes pre-printed forms that document the cases heard by the justices. Justices hearing cases at this time were Edward Little and Benjamin Hamblin. Information recorded on these pages includes the name of the justice hearing the case, the names of parties involved, the names of attorney's, criminal complain information, and associated court costs. Most of the actions listed in this book include the plea entered by a defendant, and the final judgment rendered.
