Utah's Road to Statehood

Letter from Scott Rue, World Traveler and Lecturer Many congratulatory letters exist in the correspondence of Heber M. Wells. However, none seem to describe the state of Utah better than one from world traveler and lecturer Scott Rue. Rue claims that "Fair Utas [sic] admission in to the union" is a gift to the nation of "a new state which abounds with enlightened patriotic, progressive and hospitable people, together with her unbounded wealth, scenery and that wonder of wonders (the Dead Sea of America. . .)" (Utah State Archives and Records Service).
