Castle Gate Relief Fund Committee

The Red Cross went quickly to the scene to help the victims' families but Governor Charles Mabey realized the community needed additional relief and called for public subscription of a relief fund for the widows and children. (Governor's official proclamation.) Mrs. Stevenson, the second woman to the left, was chosen to be a member of the Castle Gate Relief Fund Committee which oversaw the distribution of the fund.
