Programs of the First Lady, 1993-2003.
Utah State Archives Series 26002
These are the subject files handled by the staff of the First Lady, Jacalyn S. Leavitt. The series documents the various events and programs in which Mrs. Leavitt participated in during her service as First Lady. The records include children's books authored by Mrs. Leavitt, correspondence, conference programs, meeting minutes, reports, and speeches. The bulk of the series pertains to Mrs. Leavitt's literacy program, the immunization of children in Utah, and the Governor's Initiative on Families Today (GIFT).
The series consists primarily of the records maintained by Mrs. Leavitt's assistant, Judith George. Many of the handwritten notes composed by Mrs. Leavitt are merely photocopies of the originals. Mrs. Leavitt's annual schedules are included in the series, as well as files pertaining to her involvement in the National Governors Association (NGA), Republican Governors Association (RGA), and the Western Governors Association (WGA).
Finding Aids: A series inventory is available.
