Mission and Values

Values
The following statements set the foundation for the Board’s goals and activities:
ACCESS: We believe that public access to information is vital, so that knowledge can be gained and shared.
COOPERATION: It is important for archivists and institutions to cooperate with and learn from each other in order to achieve more than they would acting alone.
PARTICIPATION: In order to achieve maximum support for historical records activities, the Board seeks participation by individuals and groups with various traditions and interests and from communities throughout Utah.
DIVERSITY: We will work to preserve records that represent the diverse experiences of all Utahans.
EMPOWERMENT: We will empower Utah’s citizens to take responsibility for their historical records.
PRESERVATION: We believe in the preservation of enduring historical records.
